NADINE R. CORNISH, CSA (Certified Senior Advisor) is the founder of The Caregiver's Guardian, LLC. Nadine has a background in Public Health Education, is trained in mediation/conflict resolution and is the
founder of Discretion Consulting Firm. She consulted for more than a decade on the State of California’s most innovative social marketing campaigns. For 15 years she was a family caregiver for her mother, Elizabeth St. Cyr Roberts. This is the founder's story.
"I never wanted to be a caregiver, but I always knew that if anything ever happened to my mom, I would have to be there for her." Too soon in my adult life would this become a reality.
Over a period of fifteen years and various stages and facets of caregiving, I’ve learned that health care is a priviledge and not a right. I’ve learned that if you don’t demand, fight for, appeal and demand again, quality health care will elude your loved one. I’ve learned that passivity gets you nothing and advocacy is the hat that must be worn to insure adequate care.
Prior to caregiving, my career path included HIV/AIDS education and prevention, maternal, child health issues, and teen pregnancy prevention. Now I’ve become well versed in pituitary brain tumors, seizures, stroke, severe anemia, diabetes, dementia, breast cancer, osteoporosis and drug interactions. Proficiencies born of the necessity of caregiving.
When my caregiving responsibilities came to an end in 2008, I took a hiatus, traveled a lot and grieved immensely. When it was time to return to work, I realized being a caregiver advocate....a caregiver consultant, was not only in my blood, it is my life’s work.
The need for advocacy and support services is immense. Those fifteen years of growth and experience did not end with my mother’s transition. The Caregiver’s Guardian, LLC Consulting Services is a tribute to my mom. Formerly a Social Marketing Consultant, I am now a Caregiver Consultant. The fight I waged for my mom, is now the fight I help you wage, one to insure your quality of life and that of your loved one.
Allow me to share what I’ve learned and continue to learn. I am honored to be of service to you and yours. Call me at (303) 394-1963 or email me at info@caregiversguardian.com.
